Application
A high-volume fill plant was currently using a twist-on adapter to fill new NF type C valve (new European standard) cylinders on their existing CGA 580 fill racks.
Challenge
Eliminate the time-consuming manual twist-on adaptor and replace it with a quick connect style adapter.
Project Goals

- Eliminate the ergonomic safety hazard associate with twist-on connections.
- Increase overall process safety.
Solution
The FasTest engineering team worked directly with the customer to develop a new adapter family based on an existing sleeve style “push-on/pull-off” connector, but with the addition of a manually actuated pin and a CGA 580 female termination.
Results
The new GANFC580SAP adapter from FasTest significantly reduced fill cycle time and eliminated the ergonomic safety hazard of twist-on adaptor. Now, whenever the NF type C valves need filling the FasTest adapter can quickly be pushed on and then a 580 quick connector can be connected to the back of the adapter. Production efficiency has increased, and the process for filling NF type C cylinders is now quick, painless, and safe. Additionally, the operators are quite happy with the new FasTest adapter’s ease of use and the flexibility it allows.
